Sausalito
Where Bay Views Meet Boutique Charm
Neighborhood Snapshots
The Hill
Perched above the bay with postcard-worthy views of Richardson Bay and the San Francisco skyline, The Hill is one of Sausalitoâs most sought-after areas. Streets are quiet, homes are refined, and the outlooks are nothing short of spectacular. Residents enjoy the calm, elevated setting, all while being just minutes from downtown and the ferry.
Marinship
A former shipbuilding hub turned creative haven, Marinship is where industry meets artistry. Here, houseboats float alongside artist studios, and the air carries a sense of possibility. Itâs a place where people make thingsâart, music, ideasâand the bohemian vibe is very much alive. If you want character, history, and an independent spirit, this is your place.
Old Town
Tucked at the base of the hills just west of downtown, Old Town is the oldest part of Sausalitoâand it wears its history well. With narrow, meandering streets and homes dating back over a century, this neighborhood has a timeless, storybook feel. Many properties offer bay views, and thereâs a real sense of quiet and charm thatâs hard to replicate.
New Town
Stretching north from downtown, New Town offers a comfortable mix of architectural stylesâclassic bungalows, updated contemporaries, and everything in between. With shops, restaurants, and the waterfront just steps away, itâs an easy, walkable neighborhood with a strong sense of community and daily convenience.
Bridgeway
Running the length of the waterfront, Bridgeway is the heart of Sausalitoâs activity. Locals and visitors mingle here in cafĂŠs, wine bars, and galleries, with the bay glittering just outside every window. Living along Bridgeway means youâre in the middle of it allâbut thanks to Sausalitoâs relaxed pace, it never feels too crowded.
Marin City
Just north of Sausalito, Marin City is a proud, diverse community with deep roots and a growing creative identity. Originally built to house shipyard workers during WWII, the neighborhood is home to artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs. With quick freeway access, more attainable housing options, and ongoing revitalization efforts, itâs a place of both history and momentum.
Floating Homes
Perhaps Sausalitoâs most iconic neighborhood, the floating homes community is unlike anywhere else in the Bay Area. About 400 colorful, uniquely styled homes line the marinas near Marinship, offering a lifestyle thatâs both imaginative and deeply connected to nature. Residents often have kayaks or paddle boards tied up just outside their front door, and there's a warm, tight-knit vibe that makes this neighborhood as inviting as it is unusual.
For commuters, the Sausalito Ferry and direct access to Highway 101 make San Francisco easily accessible.
